The graphite paper I bought has one white side and one gray side. Something isn't right. It doesn't work when I trace something onto my painted wood. What am I doing wrong?

It seems you're using our waxed graphite paper. While our waxed graphite paper is designed for use on unvarnished plywood, for painted wood, our wax-free graphite paper is likely a better choice. It should work more effectively over acrylic paintings compared to our graphite paper with wax content.
